I'm quite willing to take you at your word, but my guess is that academia had nothing to do with your ex being immature. Right now she won't even watch a movie. You should ask yourself if you want to have input on the way your children are raised. Distance is hard, being away from family is tough, but in a way having only "each other" made our marriage so strong. I've never understood that bit of the LDS culture. Good communication, love, support and understanding are the things you should consider. The point made was that a parallel can be drawn between interfaith and interracial marriages. They're hidden pretty deep on LDS.
I feel like the person who is giving our relationship strength, and the one who will keep our family going in the right direction in the future, as well. And of course, when it happens, no one the leaver or the faithful spouse could have predicted it. I am a very independent person socially so I often do not think to call people just because I am fine doing things myself. But I loved this girl more than anything in life. I've read through some stuff there and it all seems pretty tame so far. There is no way this will work out. If you do manage to break her away from the church, her family will be there to continue sowing doubt. I was skeptical whether this would work with Mormon girlsв sheltered girls who would never step inside a dance club or be wooed by pickup artists. But there are a lot of women who post here who have flipped from TBM to apostate. Please don't take it the wrong way if he says that a few minutes on the phone is more than he can handle.
I agree with Rachel- this is not what I signed up for. I realize my situation is less about marriage, and more about dating, but any advice would be greatly appreciated. I just found your blog. He expects perfect children who ,"will all become doctors. Learn all you can. No doubt that some will be valiant up on the other side of the veil, but just as sure there will others who will reject salvation because of their high mindedness. Other guys I've dated in a similar situation have just asked me to put the keys in the mailbox when I leave though. And the you've seen the CES letter.
Of course, it will cause fights, as well. Please realize I know how the church works, was extremely active and raised good kids. Be prepared for divorce. Until you can believe someone else's beliefs are reasonable, you will not be able to treat them with the respect they deserve. You will join the church.
