The scriptures say that one of the main reasons good people don't join the church is because they just haven't been introduced to it. Nothing fixed that issue in me as fast as being almost inseparably bound to a woman that pushed back and kicked screaming against the pricks every time I wanted to make some sort of spiritual effort. Raising our children as believers is proving to be very tricky. She's told me the church is one of the most important things to her, but from what I've researched already there's no way I would subject my future children to this culture. We are indeed in two different places. I've never understood that bit of the LDS culture. Ask her right out if she is at all interested in leaving TSCC. Distance is hard, being away from family is tough, but in a way having only "each other" made our marriage so strong.
I intend to spend some quality time in the temple, with my bishop, and with close family and friends as I think and pray my way through this decision, but I would also value your insights into this. The way he wanted to live his life, the family he wanted to have, the wife he dreamt of- matched the type of person I longed for. There is no question this is the true church. None felt right, ever. When missionaries come home, they are like top dog religious people. As you can see Also, the fact that she served a mission is evidence of her dedication to the religion. If he weren't a doctor saving lives and had more free time, he could most definitely do YOUR job. Hopefully she could realize if she was born into one of these cults that also distrust apostates she probably wouldn't see through them either.
